Home Loan EMI Calculator
Home Loan EMI Calculator
Introduction
The Home Loan EMI Calculator helps first-time home buyers in India estimate their monthly EMI (Equated Monthly Installment) before applying for a housing loan. Whether you're buying your first flat or a resale property, this tool gives you a quick monthly repayment estimate based on your loan amount, interest rate, and tenure — helping you plan your budget before approaching a bank or housing finance company (HFC).
How to Use
Enter these three details:
- Loan Amount: The home loan amount you're planning to borrow (e.g., 3000000 for ₹30 lakh).
- Annual Interest Rate (%): The rate quoted by your bank or HFC (e.g., 7.5).
- Loan Term (Years): Your repayment tenure, typically 15-30 years for home loans (e.g., 20).
Click "Calculate EMI" to see your estimated monthly payment instantly.
Formula / Methodology
EMI = [P × r × (1 + r)^n] / [(1 + r)^n − 1]
Where P = Loan Amount, r = monthly interest rate (annual rate ÷ 12 ÷ 100), n = total months (years × 12).
Worked Example
For a home loan of ₹30,00,000 at 7.5% annual interest over 20 years:
Monthly rate = 7.5/12/100 = 0.00625, n = 240
EMI ≈ ₹24,168 per month
Practical Uses
- Budgeting for first-time home purchases, including under PMAY-linked interest subsidy schemes
- Estimating affordability before applying with Finance, or other lenders
- Comparing EMI impact of different down payment amounts to reduce loan principal
- Planning alongside stamp duty, registration, and home loan processing fees
